Our Story
Giving Alaska high schoolers a personalized path to graduation.
iGrad Alaska is part of the Interior Distance Education of Alaska (IDEA) program—a fully accredited public school governed by Alaska state regulations and Galena City School District.
As the IDEA program grew, we saw more students looking for something different: high-quality education that doesn’t fit the traditional classroom or conventional homeschool model. iGrad was created to give students exactly that—a flexible, online learning experience with strong teacher support and accelerated options.
Education that works for students
Students come to iGrad for all sorts of reasons. Some face social pressures at traditional schools, others have children or full-time jobs, some are managing health challenges, and others simply felt their previous school didn’t see or support them. All of these students are motivated to earn their diploma—they just need a program that fits into their life.
Online school, but not alone
Success is a team effort, and iGrad students have support available every step of the way. Certified teachers and motivational coaches work with students to keep them on track. Students choose a mentor from their own life—a parent, relative, or friend—to check in on progress weekly. We offer guidance to our students’ mentors, too, providing effective encouragement and productive accountability.
Student goals come first
At iGrad, it’s all about the student. Flexible schedules, personalized learning plans, and academic support from teachers and coaches help students turn obstacles into opportunities and reach their goal of earning a high school diploma.
